A contributing writer and medical reviewer for Mesothelioma.com, Dr. Raphael Bueno shares his insights, research findings and perspectives on patient care with the mesothelioma community. Dr. Bueno currently serves as the Chief of the Division of Thoracic Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, as well as Program and Research Director of the International Mesothelioma Program (IMP).

Dr. Bueno received his medical degree in 1985 from Harvard Medical School, prior to completing a residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a fellowship in Thoracic Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also has board certifications in General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care and Thoracic Surgery. In addition to his role at Brigham and Women’s, Dr. Bueno is a Harvard professor and Co-Director of the Brigham and Women’s Lung Center.

Dr. Bueno has played a crucial role in the development of the International Mesothelioma Program, the largest program of its kind founded with a mission to better understand mesothelioma and offer patients the best care possible. Further sharing his expertise, he has written or co-written over 100 articles and peer-reviewed medical journals, many of them dedicated specifically to mesothelioma.

In his role for Mesothelioma.com, Dr. Bueno has been an active contributor since 2005, sharing his expertise with mesothelioma patients and their loved ones and connecting with mesothelioma patients and their loved ones.
